Welcome to KidsPlayWork!

KIDSPLAYWORK helps children with various types of challenges for both students in regular education and special education. The goal of Occupational Therapy (OT) for any child experiencing difficulty with their “occupational” roles as a student, sibling, friend, son or daughter, is to improve their sense of competency and increase their self-confidence. Taking children from NO to YES is the goal at KIDSPLAYWORK!

OT uses purposeful play activities and meaningful tasks to improve a child’s occupational role performance for home, school and the community. I explain to my students that they are in OT to organize their bodies to learn and to make whatever task they are challenged with (reading, writing, playing with friends, participating in sports) easier for them to do!

OT can benefit children who demonstrate the following challenges:
  • Clumsy gross motor skills (hop, skip, throw/catch ball, ride bike)
  • Poor balance (trips, falls down, frequent bumping people/objects)
  • Uncoordinated fine motor skills (scissors, pencil grip, tying shoes)
  • Difficulty with visual-motor skills (handwriting, drawing)
  • Easily distractible/short attention span
  • Too high or too low activity level
  • Sensory over/under responsiveness to touch, sound or movement
  • Difficulty interacting appropriately with peers
  • Easily Frustrated/Emotionally Over-reactive
  • Problems with Self-Calming and Tolerating Stress
